So I decided to use this blog for something useful. I’m gonna actually start posting solutions to problems I find, like every other coding blog out there. The more the merrier methinks.
So #1 issue, was messing around with nginx, after i learned that phusion passenger has a standalone mode. The problem is that this mode doesn’t really lend itself to configuration
So I decided to download nginx myself. Note that (I learned this the hard way) nginx compiles without ssl support by default so you need to ./configure —with-http_ssl_module.
The reason I am doing all of this is because I’m trying to implement a protocol called foaf+ssl aka webid that uses client side certificates
messel asked: hey elegant domain guy, how about elegantizing your tumblog. is this the default theme. blECHEE
i like the default theme. its functional, yet its ‘pretty enough’
couchpubtato: Turn CouchDB into a PubSubHubbub subscriber -
Tyler Gillies and Max Ogden, who recently ported Diaspora to a CouchApp have released Couchpubtato. Couchpubtato is a CouchApp that turns CouchDB into a PubSubHubbub subscriber. Be sure and catch Episode 0.3.7 for the scoop on PubSubHubbub if you missed it.
What does all of this mean for you? Now with a little help from Superfeedr, you can create a realtime JSON API from any PubSubHubbub-enabled XML feed.
What you’ll need
- First, you’ll need CouchDB running locally or on the Internets, perhaps at CouchOne.
Next, signup for a free Superfeedr account and configure a feed. Set the callback URL to point to your CouchDB instance:
http://your.couchone.com/awesome-events/_design/push/_rewrite/xml
Now Superfeedr will pump your CouchDB full of data as your feed updates. So smart!
**Updated
It seems Tyler Gillies was the original brains behind the project.
olyecology asked: Why is Tumblr so inept? It doesn't like to load feeds?

Damn, they just won’t leave me alone! ;)
Anonymous asked: why are you unsubscribing from pubsubhubbub?
Because I don’t really ever read the mailing list when it comes in my box. I might resubscribe, but after I clean out my mailbox
